We are working with a leading UK consumer and retail business on a Senior Legal Counsel opportunity within its commercial legal team.

About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering maternity leave, with an anticipated start date around August/September. The role would suit a confident commercial lawyer with strong marketing, advertising and consumer protection experience, who enjoys partnering closely with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advising on marketing, advertising, consumer, pricing and promotions law
\n
• Supporting customer propositions and loyalty-related work from concept through to execution
\n
• Drafting and managing ASA complaints, both to and from competitors and customers
\n
• Advising on IP protection, disputes, enforcement and brand-related projects
\n
• Partnering closely with senior commercial and marketing stakeholders
\n
• Supporting legal transformation initiatives, including tools, process improvements and AI adoption
\n

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be:

• A qualified lawyer with strong marketing and advertising experience
\n
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and providing pragmatic, risk-based guidance
\n
• Experienced in consumer protection, pricing and promotions law
\n
• Able to support on IP matters, including disputes and portfolio management
\n
• Ideally experienced in-house and/or within the retail or consumer sector
\n
• Proactive, commercial and comfortable working autonomously in a busy environment
\n
